Composer

His first contact with music was as a choirboy of Tortosa's cathedral, after which he studied composition under Queralt in Barcelona. There, he was appointed second Kapellmeister at Santa Maria del Mar and organist at Sant Sever. From 1806 to 1822, he was Kapellmeister at Leon's Cathedral, city in which he became councillor (regidor). After doing some business in Asturias, he accepted a position as Kapellmeister in Oviedo in 1835, which chapel almost disappeared due to the Spanish confiscation. A great amount of his music was performed during the nineteenth century and has survived in religious institutions of the Iberian Peninsula.
