Mezzosoprano

She studied at the Conservatory of the Gran Teatre del Liceu with Joan Goula. At the age of fifteen she debuted at the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires) and two years later in 1912, she debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu with Carmen and Samson and Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns. After her debut, she was projected as one of the most important mezzosopranos of her time, with performances in theaters around the world, and especially in North America. She is considered one of the pioneers in the appreciation of the mezzo soprano roles in Rossini’s operas and a specialist in Georges Bizet, especially for his performances of Carmen. She made recordings of opera, lieder, and Manuel de Falla’s songs.
