He was born into a family with a strong musical tradition. After obtaining a degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona, he studied with Manuel Palau. He composed and was a literature teacher at Institut Ausiàs March in Gandia. Between 1948 and 1958 he lived in Paris where he was close to Les Six. Some of his most remarkable compositions include Tres poemes for piano, clarinet and string orchestra.
