Compositor

He was a disciple of Cristòfor Taltabull. He sought to link his music with contemporary artistic universe of figures such as Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, Moisès Villèlia, Teresa Codina, Joan Brossa and Perejaume. Evolving initially from the serialist contributions of Anton Webern, in his extensive output he questioned the boundaries of the traditional concert (Self Service, Suite Bufa, Satan), made use of the computer (Ibèmia, 1969), and experimented with electroacoustic and stochastic music, (concert series L'estro aleatorio). He was a key figure in the context of Catalan music of the second half of the 20th century, being at the forefront of initiatives to promote and encourage contemporary music. He also published musical essays, was president of the Joan Brossa Foundation and emeritus patron of the Joan Miró Foundation. He was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi and the Premi Nacional de Música.
