Conductor, composer and violinist
He studied violin with Francesco Berini, director of the Teatre de la Santa Creu, and composition with Ramon Aleix i Batlle, Kapellmeister of Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona. He emigrated to Cuba where he worked as a violinist. Back in Barcelona, he played the violin in the orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, conducted the Euterpe Coral Society Orchestra (1859-1866) and the Societat Coral Barcino (1859), and was Kapellmeister of Sant Jaume (Barcelona). He collaborated with Anselm Clavé to organize the choral festivals of 1862 and 1864, and composed several orchestral and dance pieces.
