He attended the escolania of Sant Felip Neri of Gràcia and received lessons from Pérez Moya, Millet and Toldrà. In 1933 he joined the Orfeó Català and was singer and soloist of the institution for over fifty years. He was a member of the Orpheus vocal quartet, which, following the American model of Barbershop Harmony, was focused on popular music and jazz in Catalan and Spanish, as well as religious music. With Orpheus he made several recordings of popular songs and sardanes. Renom's vocal ability allowed him to perform soloist parts in oratorios such as the Mendelssohn’s Elijah, the St. Matthew Passion by J. S. Bach, El Pessebre by Pau Casals or El giravolt de maig by Toldrà (performed at the Liceu in 1948).
